Winter Time is Genealogy Time!

Happy New Year, everyone! I hope that you had a wonderful holiday season with time to share and learn new family stories! As I have been reminded by several vendor emails, Winter Time is Genealogy Time! There is no better thing to do on a cold day than snuggle up to your computer!

The Roots Tech 2025 schedule has been released! This is a multi-day FREE event from FamilySearch.org that begins on March 6. All you need is an free account you can get at that link there, or by going right to the schedule of events you can attend online - see those by clicking here: https://www.familysearch.org/en/rootstech/schedule?cid=EM-00044531&lid=uhng2t68w7ge&day=2025-03-06&type=inperson

If you can get to Salt Lake, you can attend even more events in person! There are a total of 274 sessions, 97 of them online. Plus there is a huge library of prior-recorded sessions you can search by topic.

Meanwhile, back here in Texas, the Texas State Genealogical Society has opened registration for "Genealogy Essentials," which is NOT free, but seems like quite a bargain to get your Continuing Ed started for the year or just to sharpen your basic genealogy researching skills. This is NOT just about Texas, it is for everyone!

Here is the link showing the topics and the speakers, including some of my very favorites such as Patti Gillespie and the Dallas Genealogical Society's own Jim Thornhill!

The cost, which includes eight (8) sessions (pre-recorded) plus four (4) live Zoom meetings is only:

TxSGS members: $70.00

Non-members: $80.00

Registration Deadline: January 17, 2025, at noon

I have made my annual New Year's resolution to break down one of my brick walls? How about you? Let me know if you would like some help!

Best regards for 2025,

Leslie Ryan
